Dhwani - A Special Film Fest
Aaina has been engaged from 2011 in promoting disability issues through film festivals. DHWANI aims to create awareness about the situation of people with disabilities as well as to create opportunities for them through the creative industry in the future.
The festival involves screening of films related to disability from across the world and all platforms as well panel discussions on varying themes highlighting disability issues. So far film fest has created a culture of bringing people from various backgrounds together and taking a discourse on different aspects of disability. Repeated viewing of movies and participation in festivals has even motivated individuals working in other than in the social sector to submit short documentaries on disability. The effort of bringing people from various backgrounds like mainstream cinema, human rights defender, disability rights defender, students and children with disability, and parents of children with disability, has been a significance of the festival.
The festival will be held in Bhubaneswar for two days. We will have a screening of films, panel discussions and an award ceremony with an expected footfall of more than 250 visitors per day from different backgrounds.
