Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was centrally engaged in the process of distributing tricycles to the selected orthopedically challenged all over India. The objective was to benefit the most needy so that they can live a more dignified and productive life. However, the process could not be carried out most effectively as there was a gap between the most needy seekers and providers. A decision to make the distribution a state wise policy was taken where aaina came forward to became partners with RGF in the process of physical verification of the PWDs for Motorized Tricycle for the year 2011/2012. During the month of June a preliminary discussion was held with the founder member of aaina and secretary of the organization to make it into a partnership mode and after that representative from RGF visited aaina and discussed regarding the partnership and roles and responsibility of the organization.
aaina's everyday community level contact with disabled in all the districts of Odisha definitely gives it an edge in identifying the most deserving group. Twenty Nine PWDs were shortlisted for this from the district of Khurda, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh and Puri district.
During the month of July all 29 physical verification of PWDs were done by aaina and the verification form was sent to RGF for further use.
