Screening of movies for short film contest Kallola took place on January 21, 2015 at Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhubaneswar after the eager wait of filmmakers and participating audience. The joint efforts of Unicef and aaina managed to attract 27 exclusive short films on the theme of child marriage, child labor, corporal punishment and child sexual abuse.
The overall quality and concept of the films was appreciated well by the jury. The jury included Mr. Birendra Das (Development Communication specialist), Mr. Lalatendu Rath (Development Communication Expert), Mr. Anant Mahapatra (Chair, Jury Noted Theater Director), Ms. Manipadma Jena (Member, Cine Critique Association), Mr. Sampad Mahapatra ( Communication Expert), Mr. Bata Krushna Tripathy (Retd IPS , noted Theater Expert )and Mr. S V Raman (Kolkata, Cinematographer). Another category Children's jury award included jury from Loyola school, DPS Kalinga, DAV Unit 8, Capital High school, children from Kandhamal, Ganjam and Dhenkanal districts. The contest was not taken just as a passing event showcasing movies on specific them but as an avenue to create awareness and pave its way through to make a long term social impact through visual media. The movies will be available on YouTube for pubic viewing. The announcement of the winning movies shall be made on the award event in the end of Feb 2015.
