The objective of the project is :: o enhance the skill, knowledge and attitude of the adolescent girls and women in the target area to have better menstrual hygiene management. :: o established low cost sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in 3 blocks of Ganjam district and make it fully operational in 12 months time. � apture and document the process and learning of the initiative and project it to the larger world including the state government to disseminate the learning and replicate the model. The activities of the project are centered on creating awareness of menstrual hygiene, production of low cost and hygienic sanitary napkins, training and awareness proper use of sanitary napkins and safe disposal after the use of sanitary napkins. With very less awareness among rural mass regarding importance and usage of sanitary napkins, it hold high potential of creating a market share and employment for rural women as well. The main target groups are school and college students, and women between 15-35 years.
For larger impact the project shall also sensitize policy makers to sanitation; create awareness on health and hygiene at the district, block and local level; constantly upgrade the knowledge and capacity of various stakeholders on MHM; remove the social stigma attached to menstruation and ensure access and availability of napkins and other hygienic facilities in public places and to spread awareness in schools, colleges and hostels
