How to Participate:

The format of this section of Kallola Contest is the same as in previous years. The contest is open to all filmmakers above the age of 18 years, to explore their creativity on child rights issue through short films – 30, 60 & 90 seconds duration. The films will be made by the filmmakers at their own cost.

The contest is open to all filmmakers - aspiring filmmakers from film schools, professional film production firms, advertising agencies, independent filmmakers, amateurs and other filmmaking enthusiasts from the state.

Entries received will be judged by an eminent jury and the best 3 films will be selected as winning films. In addition, there will be one Jury Choice award and one Children’s Choice award. The decision of the Jury will be considered as final and at no point the organizers/UNICEF & partners will be held responsible on the selection process or result of the event.

All together 5 trophies and certificates will be awarded to 5 award winning filmmakers and participation certificate will be given to all participants.

STEPS TO PARTICIPATE

Step 1: All you need to do is complete the online registration form Click Here. This enrolls you to participate in the Kallola Short film Contest. You will get a confirmatory response that you are registered as a participant.

Step 2: Shortly after registration, you will be expected to attend a day-long workshop, to understand the issue of child rights and the theme for the year “NUTRITION: Every child’s right for a healthy life”, use of short film format to communicate social issues followed by discussion on the rules, regulations and awards. Only first 80 registered participants will get a chance to be part of Technical Workshop.

**Though it is not mandatory, we would like to encourage all of you to participate in this workshop to enhance your knowledge and skills so it reflects in the films you make for the contest.

Step 3: Make sure that you go through all the rules & regulations of the contest and familiarize yourself with the submission criteria before filling up the entry form.

Step 4: The contest will be open from 5th August 2019 to 11th October 2019. In case you need clarifications please contact us on 0674-2360630/9937464317 or mail us at [email protected]

Step 5: The last date for submission of the entries is 11th October 2019. Make sure that you have completed all the formalities and all forms and formats for submission as mentioned in step 3 are adhered and submitted with your film. You will get an acknowledgement for the receipt of your entry. From this year onwards we have also introduced online entry of films for those of you who live out of town. Click here for online entry. The process is self explanatory. You may also continue to send entries through post or hand delivery as in previous years.

Step 6: Your entry once received will be reviewed along with the submitted documents. Incase any of them are missing/ not complete/do not adhere to the specified norms we will not be able to consider your entry for the contest.

Step 7: A renowned jury will review the films and decide the awards. Children as jury will also review the films for the Children's Choice Award.

Step 8: The awards ceremony to felicitate the winners will be held in the month of November 2019. The date will be intimated to you and also will be updated in the site.

SUBMISSION RULES AND REGULATIONS

Each entry should focus on the theme mentioned i.e. “NUTRITION: Every child’s right for a healthy life” a tagline will have to be carried at the end of every film (in written or in voice over) in the language of the film along with English subtitle.

  1. Film makers can submit a maximum of 2 entries each
  2. Length of each film submitted must fit either of the categories: 30, 60, 90 sec including credit plate of 5 sec.
  3. All entries must be submitted in any ONE of the following formats: MOV, MPEG or AVI. To avoid glitches while uploading winning films with subtitles in You tube we advise you to go for APRS 422 HQ 25 FPS in stereo with Quick Time Format (MOV) .
  4. For offline submission two DVDs of each entry have to be submitted along with the entry form. Award winning films will have to be re-submitted in a portable hard drive to avoid generation loss. For online submission the film maker has to upload the film via We Transfer along with the entry form and other relevant documents as per the guideline.
  5. Language of the entry should be Odia/Hindi with English subtitles.
  6. Subtitling is must and should be in Arial font, bold and white in colour with bottom centre & 60 font sizes in video editing. It must be attached with the movie file you are sending (in both cases of online and offline submission).
  7. The film maker is responsible for the authenticity of the work. The onus of the information provided in the entry form and declaration lies entirely with the film maker.
  8. The use of copyright materials (music, images etc) is not allowed, unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material - which must be produced at time of submission of entries.
  9. Contest period opens on 5th August 2019 and closes on 11th October 2019. Entries submitted after 11th October 2019 will not be considered for the contest.
  10. The costs incurred by the filmmakers for making the film will have to be borne by the film makers themselves.
AWARDS
  1. Entries received and which fulfill the submission criteria will be short listed by the organizers. The short listed films will be judged by a panel of eminent Jury members. The three best films across all films will be selected for First, Second and Third prize. In addition, there is a Children's Choice Award for a film selected by children and a Jury Choice Award.
  2. The decision of the Jury will be final and at no point the organizer and/or UNICEF will be held responsible for the selection process or result of the judging event.
