Child Sexual Abuse - A cruelty that denies our human identity.
Did you know that children face abuse in the most unlikely scenarios by a person he or she is most familiar with - a family member, a teacher, a neighbour, an older child-mentor…The unwarranted guilt felt by the child encourages further destruction of the child’s spirit and mind. .
Child Marriage - A glaring child rights’ violation. A practice that has shockingly managed to persist through the ages. Early marriage prohibits the fullest development of the child, enhances the probability of abuse among girls. .
Child Labour - A deprivation of a child’s childhood. Do you know how many children are out of school and into labour sometimes even in hazardous work like fire cracker industry? When children are in the work force how can the goal of universal primary education be achieved? The neutral attitude we all display must go. Time to hear the call of that child on the street, that factory, hotel, household… Time to say “NO!” .
Corporal Punishment- A violation of the child’s dignity and self-respect. Did you know that this form of physical punishment can scar a person for life? That it can destroy his/her sense of self esteem forever? Most adults aren’t even aware of the damage it causes.
