Aaina has been promoting the rights of adolescents and has taken up several programs in this aspect. There are two different projects focusing on SRHR and MHM issues taking place in different localities covering rural, urban and School going and out of school adolescents. In two of its program one being in the rural Ganjam working with empowerment of adolescents, 7 groups in Dhenkanal district i.e. Kamakhya Nagar and Kankadahad block , 4 groups in Bhubaneswar slums. Empower the adolescent girls on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), Flying Wings, SRHR project operates in 31 villages of Bhanjanagar, Bellaguntha and Chhatrapur Blocks in Ganjam Districts. The project aimed to empower 300 adolescent girls focusing on MHM and on their rights to reproductive health, hygiene, nutrition in and out of educational institutions in 3 blocks of Ganjam district. The project awarded the girls and brought them into adolescent girls groups in 31 villages and at the same time identified 2 leaders developing their capacities to lead the groups on SRHR issues at village level. The capacity building training programs were conducted for adolescent girls leaders and front line workers on taboos and social stigma of MHM in 3 block headquarters. Now the girls are taking hygiene measures during the monthly periods and availing health facilities from Government health centers and VHND.
The 4 groups in Bhubaneswar programme has around 100 girl participants and 7 groups of Dhenkanal have around 80 participants who have sessions fortnightly. Through different sessions they are given orientation on themes like Menstruation Hygiene Management, Gender and its stereotypes, Gender based violence, Dance Movement Therapy (DMT). Films on different issues are screened during the sessions, through which girls show more interest and put their queries on the table. It further focuses on facilitating their creative arts skills like painting, dance, music, poetry writing etc.
