Youth Journalist Support Programme on Climate Change
The Youth4Water campaign, of which Aaina is a co-founder along with Water Initiatives, has initiated a capacity-building effort on climate change for young journalists and communication professionals/students. Under this programme, we, with support from the OSLO Met University, Norway, have organised two orientation programmes so far at the Indian Institute of Mass Communications (IIMC), Dhenkanal; and XIM University (XIMU), Bhubaneswar respectively.
The programme was titled “Climate Change and Human Mobility,” in which students of journalism and mass communication, communication professionals from youth organisations from across the country, and young journalists participated. The programme at IIMC was held on 17th March 2023 and the one at XIMU was held on 14th August 2023. While both the programmes were coordinated by well-known water & climate expert Mr. Ranjan Panda, who is also the founder of Youth4Water campaign, a distinguished panel of resource persons joined in them. Mr Richard Mohapatra, Managing Editor, Down To Earth; Prof. Elizabeth Aide, OSLO MET University; Prof. Mrinal Chatterjee, IIMC; Dr Vijay Kumar, XIM University; Mrs Sneha Mishra, Aaina were among the resource persons. More than 200 participants actively participated in both these training programmes.
