Covid-19 Response and Action

Aaina has immediately started its response to deal with the Covid-19 crisis that has affected not just our country, but the entire world. Aaina in collaboration with Sense International India has identified 38 vulnerable families, including daily wage laborer and care takers of children with disability in Bhubaneswar city. These families where given essential items including ration and facial masks.

Psycho-social support

We are determined to provide psychosocial support and care to the community in our areas of operation by conducting TOT and preparing community volunteers through virtual training. We have also prepared a handbook for volunteers on Domestic Violence.

Jan Sahayata Kendra, Covid-19

During the current Lockdown, we can see that there is an increase in the domestic violence cases throughout India. Aaina is already working in cases related to domestic violence and in collaboration with CYSD has came up with a citizen helpline service to assist people in any issues ranging from, information on Covid prevention to counseling service for women and families to prevent domestic violence through personal and legal tele- counseling.

Covid Films, 2020

The film festival encourages enthusiastic film makers; create mind and amateur film makers to make films within 2 minutes to shows the Positivity of the Lockdown. This is an initiative to engage all the creative minds and to keep them engage during lockdown. The received films can later be used in dissemination purpose. We would give in monetary awards to the winners of the contest.

3rd National River Conference:

The theme for the 3rd National River Conference was “Promoting the Forest-River-Communities nexus for Conservation of Rivers and Combating climate change.” It was held at Prayas conference hall in Baripada on 24th-25thMarch, 2019. It was a joint effort of 35 organizations led by Water Initiatives, Gram Swaraj and Vasundhara to deliberate on the relationship between these vital aspects of ecology and initiate effort to involve communities in the planning process. About 250 people from across the country participated in the program. The conference had two general sessions, four technical sessions, one youth conclave and a river festival in two days.

Sign Language Communication on Patho utsav platform

On the occasion of Patho Utsav, a program "Sign is Fun" is performed by aaina staffs. The program has started with full swing from 9th December 2018 (every Sunday) from 6:30 am – 9:00 am in Janpath area in Bhubaneswar and is in continuing process. Huge gathering from all age groups (children, youth and elderly people) visit the stall to experience the unique art of sign language communication.
