On 14th January 2012, I left for Mumbai for doing the Community Initiative in Inclusion (CII) Course. After reaching. I was given a warm welcome by Leena Gomes (Warden). I met all the participants and got introduced with everyone. We were twenty students from 9 countries. We were introduced to the press. All the faculty members came to meet us.
The classes started on 16thof January 2012. We were given Four Modules containing different chapters that were a part of the training like Types of Disabilities, Therapy, Child Development, Assessments, Special Education, Ecological Intervention and Barriers in the Community.
We were exposed to concepts such as Parents’ Involvement in Anganwadi, Setting Up Inclusive Education Centre, Child-to-Child Approach, Capacity Training Module, Sensitization, What inclusion entail and many more. We visited the communities and talked to the parents. We visited special schools, hospitals for Visually Impaired, Work Skill Units for interacting with different people.
During this Course we even visited Goa for the IV North South Dialogue. At the event we met few of the ex-CII students and exchanged information with them We met delegates from many
It was a great learning experience for me. CII Course has taught me many skills. It has increased my me confidence and shown me a new path in my life. I am looking forward to use this experience in the field work
