International Migrants Day

TheInternational Migrants Day was observed on 18th December 2017 with the theme 'Safe Migration in a World on the Move' at block conference hall, Soroda with support of SWANSEA & ILO. Almost 100 women members from the operational areas participated in the program. MLA Mr. Purna Chandra Swain, CDPO, OLM coordinator, WEO were the guests of the event.
Mr. Tukuna Khata spoke about Aaina organization and informed participants about the ongoing program on safe migration. He referred to migration as a way-out for individuals to overcome the hitches and snags and to live a better life. He stressed “migration is a right but one should migrate through proper channel.” In this new era of crisis and complexity, challenges and difficulties, international migration requires enhanced cooperation and collective action among countries and regions. Considering this, the United Nations observe International Migrants Day every year to create awareness about the protection and safety of the migrants.
