An Outing for deafblind children develops their sensory skills

An outing for children with visual and hearing impairment and multi sensory impairment was organized by Aaina on 27 September (on the occasion of Deaf day) at Regional Science park, Bhubaneswar.
The objective of the outing was recreation for the children and improve their sensory abilities through touch and feel. In total 17 children joined along with their parents. Ms. Jasinta (Special Educator), Mr. Basant (Coordinator), Ms. Gayatri & Mr. Ajit (CBR Worker) organized different group activities and intriguing games for the children followed by delicious lunch. Children enjoyed a lot playing on swings, ball passing, and activities involving touching different objects. Children who usually sit at home for whole day got an opportunity to feel through touch different shapes, sizes and texture. They were exposed to local plants and animal shaped structures in the park.
Ms. Pravati Mishra (EC member Aaina), Dr. Gayatri Patnaik (EC member Aaina) and Mr. Dillip Biswal (Project Director) were present to encourage children and their parents.
