Observation of International Day For Persons with Disability aaina organized a Programme on 3rd December 2013 for Observation of
International Day for Persons with Disability at District Veterinary Training
Hall, Phulbani. More than 50 persons with disability participated from
Khajuripada and Phulbani. Mrs. Sujata Mohapatra (Livelihood Coordinator, aaina)
welcomed all participants for this occasion and interacted with the participants
regarding the importance of the day. She talked about the participation of
person with disability in MGNREGA, and the type of work facility available under
it. She shared different individual case studies from Kandhamal for their
inspiration. She gave wider concept of Sramika Sangha and how Sangha will help
them to fulfill their rights .The Chief Guests of the Programme were Ms. Manjula
Pradhan, (CDPO, Phulbani) and Ms. Laxmi Das (District Coordinator, Mission Sakti,
Kandhamal).
The Chief Guest Ms. Manjula Pradhan spoke on care of women with disability
during the Pregnancy and after the delivery. She also shared how the person with
disability cope with life at different stages and how in an ICDS center a child
with disability can access the normal education as other children.
Ms.Laxmi Das talked about the different barriers in the society like
attitudinal barrier and financial barrier for persons with disability. She
stressed that lack of care and affection is the barrier for them in the society.
She also talked about SHG Groups of person with disability under Mission
Khyamata. She explained that if we honestly want to run the SHG then first we
have to follow the rules of SHG and invest the loan in a right way. After that a
Quiz Competition was conducted by the Participants on the subject of MGNREGA,
Rozgar Diwas, and Inclusive Education. Mr. Gadadhar Behera (Block Coordinator,
Phulbani) gave Vote of thanks to all the guests & Participants for coming.
