Introduction

Lipi Rout (9yrs) is a CP(cerebal palsy) girl from Kanapura village of the Kanapura Panchayat. Her father’s name is Mr. Kishore Rout. We found Lipi during our project survey. After that, when we formed a resource centre in the same village, we were able to work more closely with Lipi.

Causes of Disability
When Lipi was around one and a half years old she faced a trauma in her life. She suffered fits around 35 times a day. This was the main reason for her disability.

Past Condition
Her physical condition was very bad. She was only able to lie down at home and she could not control her drooling. Nobody paid any attention to her. She always fell ill with fever and she was not responding to anybody. Due to her handicap everyone ignored her.

Present condition
After our (Aaina’s) intervention, things changed. We first provided therapy to Lipi. The therapist also trained her caretaker, her mother & her aunty. After that we advised them to take Lipi regularly to the resource centre. Now Lipi comes regularly to the centre. She is able respond every time. She is also cooperating with us while giving therapy and can control her drooling as a result of the massage.

Facility availed
She has the Disability certificate and a wheelchair. In this session 2010-11 she was enrolled in the inclusive education in Class 1 in KANAPURA UP School with the help of the Aaina workers.
