Barrier free environment, participation by all and limitless creativity add meaning to the Child Rights Convention.

aaina organised district level Children’s Convention and Child Rights Week celebration at Phulbani on 20th & 21st of November. On the occasion of Childrens’s Convention, 220 children participated from different Blocks of Kandhamal and Boudh District. Mr. Balaram Mallick Sub Collector, Kandhaml, Mr. Sailendra Dwibedi (PD, DRDA Kandhamal), Ms. Binodini Panda (DPC Kandhamal), Mr. Nabin Kumar Panda (Chair Person CWC, Kandhamal), Sneha Mishra (Secretary Aaina) and Swaha Das (Programme Manager Aaina) were present as the guest of honor of the day. Guests shared with children the significance of the day and guided them to adopt qualities that will help them become successful citizens. Right to participate and right to education was strongly encouraged. In these two days children participated in different creative activities, workshops (Jhoti, Clay art, Paper craft and Mask Making). The activities gave a chance to all children to showcase their skills and above all be included in the society as capable citizens. Their participation in a barrier free environment enhanced their creativity with no limits. Social messages such as “right to education” were reflected in clay art and skits. Delightful cultural dances were prepared by children from different children clubs. Their enthusiasm and talent was reflected perfectly in every performance. Winners from different categories were awarded later. Children also got to see series of short documentaries showcasing ability, power of inclusion, and togetherness. The event ended with common dance performance by all on the stage where none was left behind. The celebration turned out to be a pertinent platform for “inclusion” where everybody participated with the best of their abilities and bilateral exchange of messages and information was predominant.
