Awareness campaign on women trafficking 2nd december 2012 of jajnaseni

Jajnaseni is operational at the field level through six partner organizations and many more sister organizations throughout Odisha who are not partners in the district but who are extremely sensitive to the issue of trafficking and help Jajnaseni at grass root level. At grass root level, Jajnaseni is involved in awareness generation and prevention of human trafficking and rescue and rehabilitation of the trafficked victims. aaina has been intensively undertaking the anti-trafficking campaign every year in the district of Ganjam to spread awareness. An awareness campaign on anti trafficking was conducted on 2nd December 2012 at Bhanjanagar. The audience included the victims, children, PWD’s and also women and men from the nearby villages. The chief guests of the event were Mr. Lokanath Bisoi (Ex Nijarat Officer), Mr. Prasant Mohanty (Writer and Teacher), Mr. Sulapani Sathpathy (Forest Officer), and Mrs. D. Rawanama (Head Master). The Event started with the lighting of candles. The guests discussed their views on violence against women and the way young girls are injected with hormones and murdered. The interactions with the audience were quiet clear and the women presided over there could share their views openly. The interactions reflected clear understanding of the issue and the ways it can be prevented. Later part of the event included the launch of OBR Campaign (One Billion Rise).The Campaign launch will bring people out in the streets on 14th February 2013 to sing slogans and march in protest against violence against women. The OBR’s campaign was launched by unveiling of posters. There was a good response to the campaign as the participants sang the slogan for this campaign showing their support. A vote of thanks was given by Ms. Pooja Mahapatra (aaina staff) and the meeting ended with the lunch for the participants.
